Diffusion of oils is often done by use of an aromatherapy diffuser but these can come in a variety of forms.  You can easily make a simple aromatherapy diffuser yourself by using a dish with a small amount of water in it with a few drops of whichever essential oil you prefer.  Shop bought oil diffusers can be more effective, but they do work on a similar principle: they generally hold a ceramic dish with a small tea light candle underneath in order to heat the oil which diffuses the scent more thoroughly throughout the room.

Another type of Aromatherapy diffuser is an aromatherapy nebulizer, which is used by many aromatherapists as it is thought to be an effective method of spreading the oils and scents; they do this by breaking down the oil into molecules making it much easier for intake into the lungs.
